I started running again a couple of weeks ago. But I was probably pushing it to hard and after a week or so my Achilles really started to get sore one day during a run and the next day I could barely walk. I basically stayed off of it for a week. Other than the necessary walking around. After a week I didn’t really have any pain and I have started swimming and walking. According to a little research I did on the internet it indicated that would be okay. I will probably walk, stretch and strengthen over the next couple of weeks. It’s also nice getting back in the pool. I was inspired to start exercising more than just 30 minutes a day by two things. One was an article in the Wall Street Journal about an executive in Europe that had been a pro tennis player and used running as a way to stay in shape. It seemed like a good idea because it’s always hard find a place to swim and I can run almost anywhere. Another inspiration is the Olympics. There are all these athletes doing amazing things. I might not be able to swim as fast as Micheal Phelps, or run as fast as Usain Bolt. But I can still swim and run. Then there is the inspiration of Dana Torres that is 3 years older than me and is there getting a silver metal in the 50m Free. I will try to get in shape and start doing some triathlons. One of the benefits of more exercise is the ability and need to eat more food. I really like food so that is a bonus.
